halloween fun

Halloween on a school night kind of puts a damper on things...but we made the best of it!

For school, Mary Reese got to dress up like a character out of a book.  Since we are missing our front four teeth, we thought Junie B. Jones Toothless Wonder would be perfect.  She put on her best Junie B. clothes.  I made her a silver star just like in the book...

Banks had a different challenge for Halloween at school.  Mrs. Poovey challenged them to find a word that was unfamiliar to them and decorate a hat describing that word.  Banks chose the word...

pla·toon/pləˈtoon/ - a subdivision of a company of soldiers, usually forming a tactical unit that is commanded by a lieutenant and divided into several sections

He colored an index card to look like it was camouflaged.  He wrote his word on the card and attached several army men all around.

Presto!  We were done in less than 10 minutes.  A great alternative to Book Character Day!

We rushed home after school, threw on our costumes...

...grabbed a pumpkin cheesecake and apple cake, and headed over to the Bibb's for our annual trick-or-treating extravaganza.

We had bloody skeletons and scary vampires...

Owen wasn't a fan of anyone wearing a mask...

Super glued himself to Jody's leg, saying "I don't like it" until they took off their mask.

These two were more his speed...

Representing our state schools well.

We gathered the majority of the gang for a quick picture before running sprinting door to door in hopes of their favorite piece of candy...

Someday they will thank us for taking so many group pictures!

Owen and I made it to a few house before he decided he was ready to hit the house.  We made our way back to the Bibbs to help Rebecca get the meal ready.  The rest of the crew trick-or-treated until their tummies were growling.  The came back to refuel...

Before heading out for round two.

Boy did we get some loot...

Not sure what to do with it all?  I found a new recipe that uses all your left over Halloween candy...

A shortbread cookie topped with an assortment of candy bars.  Yummo!
