He doesn't stand a chance...

I walked into the sunroom where Baby Owen was sitting in his bouncy seat to find this:
Mary Reese thought he needed his sun hat and some lip gloss!

2 Week Check Up

{This is how Jody and I feel about this time at night}
We took Owen for his 2 week check up this morning. It is hard to believe that he is already 2 weeks and 2 days old! He is up to 8 lbs 3 ozs {just an ounce more than his birth weight} and has grown an entire inch! He is finally starting to wake up a little more during the day and soak up all his surroundings. His brother and sister are still very into him and have been a huge help especially when it comes to fetching a dry diaper or heating up a bottle! But I think Camp {the dog} has been the most protective of him!

Spring Break

We had a low-key Spring Break {mainly due to the arrival of Baby Brother the week before}. Aunt Stacey was sweet enough to spend the first two days of her Spring Break with us. She chauffeured us around town and helped entertain the older two. Thank you Aunt Stacey! It was nice to have an extra set of hands!
Some of our activties for the week included trips to the park, strolls around the neighborhood, TBall practices, several trips to Target and tons of "arts and crafts" projects.
Aunt Stacey helping decorate construction paper with colored sugar {we didn't have any glitter...so we had to improvise}:

While Banks and Mary Reese were busy with their various activities, this is what Baby Owen spent his Spring Break doing:

Happy St. Patty's Day

I am not really sure that we have any Irish heritage in our lines but it was fun to celebrate the holiday. We all dressed in our green:
We ate green pancakes for breakfast:
{Mary Reese was not impressed...she requested white pancakes. Thankfully I didn't tint all the batter.} Mary Reese even got her toenails and fingernails painted green:

Sunshine in a Box

We had to take Baby Owen to our pediatrician's office on Friday so they could check him out {they don't come to the hospital where we delivered}. The doctor thought he looked kind of jaundice {his numbers were up from when we left the hospital} and his weight was down from 4 ounces from leaving the hospital...but other than that, he looked perfect. I put him in what little sunlight we had all day on Friday. Then we had to go to the hospital Saturday morning to get another bilirubin test. Thankfully his number had dropped. We still kept him in all the light we could find Saturday and Sunday. We even put him under the "Sunshine in a box" light bulb {that is suppose to increase your energy levels and lift your spirits} on Sunday.
Here is Baby Owen sunning under the "Sunshine in a box" light bulb at Debbie's:
We had to go back to the office for a weight check this morning. Dr. Khouri was very pleased to see his weight back to 8 pounds {just 2 ounces shy of his birth weight}!

Home

Baby Owen got to come home from the hospital today around lunch. {I don't think I have ever been so ready to be at my own house, in my own bed in my entire life!} He wore the same gown that my mother and I made for Banks {then Mary Reese} to come home from the hospital in:
{Sitting on ready...waiting on the discharge papers}
Here we are getting wheeled out of the hospital:
Your first car ride home...you didn't make a peep:
Upon arrival, we were greeted with this:
{thank you Scott...I have never seen something so beautiful. I truly LOVE it!}
Then it was time for Camp and Owen to meet:

{You got situated in the same Moses basket that your uncles, brother, sister and Galvin Gray all spent time in.}

By the time we got you situated...

the school called and Banks placed in the county science fair and needed to be at an Awards Ceremony at 6:30 tonight.
Before heading out, Banks and Daddy helped me give Owen his first "bath":
{he HATED it}
Jody, John B and Banks all went to the science fair...

...to claim his 2nd Place ribbon and $5.00 prize!

{Mary Reese had to spend an extra night with Nanny Nan and John B because she was throwing up at school this morning!} A typical day at the Murphree household...looks like we have lots of fun in store!

Welcome to the World, Baby Brother

Owen Patrick Murphree made his way into the world at 1:41 pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Dr. Keller did a fabulous job delivering:
Big Brother Banks loves his new brother. He was on top of the world when he finally got to hold him:
Big Sister Mary Reese loved having a real baby to hold:
He has been a perfect laid-back angel since he debuted {let's all hope he stays that way}:
We are looking forward to bringing him home Thursday afternoon!
