hot air

The Alabama Jubilee...one of our all time favorite events of the year.  Seriously it ranks up there with Christmas, Easter and birthdays.

We always get up at the crack of dawn the Saturday before Memorial Day in hopes to see the balloons fly.  The weather has not cooperated the past two years.  We were due a good balloon year...and it turned out to be the most beautiful year yet!  Not a cloud in the sky.

We got to the field as the "Hare" balloon was blowing up...

One balloon blows up and flys off.  When it passes the tree line, the others [the "Hounds"] are allowed to start "chasing" it.

We quickly grabbed our spot with all our friends...

...and settled in for the show!

We were thrilled to find our cousin in her matching dress...

Owen was amazed by all the balloons...

Then I realized this is the first time he has ever seen them fly!

The views are breathtaking...

All the colors are phenomenal.

I tried to snag a picture of my three with the balloons in the background...

Not the best...but it will do.

Once they blow up...

As this balloon flew overhead, we realized we knew someone on board...

Popsy got to fly in the ReMax balloon.

Here is the view from his perspective...

Breathtaking!

The "Hare" balloon finds a good landing spot and lays out an X on the ground...

TheTarget

The "Hound" balloons throw bean bags on the ground in hopes of coming closest to the target.

After the balloons were out of site, we crossed the street for breakfast with friends [whose backyard happens to back up to the field].  The kids had a ball playing with all their friends.

A fun time was had by all!
