the strawberry patch

Popsy had the most amazing backyard strawberry patch at his house…




He invited us all over a few weeks ago…



… for a picking session…



We just plopped Owen right down in the middle of the patch…



…and let him go to town…



We have eaten strawberries by the handfuls all by themselves…



…made 3 batches of Strawberry Jam, a couple of Shoney’s Strawberry Pies…



...and some delightful salads…



All the lettuce came from here…



…Popsy’s salad garden [on the other side of the driveway from the strawberry patch]. He grew red leaf, romaine and butter crisp lettuce. It was delicious!

The first thing we have “ripe” in the garden at our house is…




...zinnias!

I love garden season. I love how my children are learning how things get from the “farm” to our table. I love how excited they get when they find something ready to pick!
