little gingerbread houses, big men

Last Sunday Debbie treated us to a good old fashion Christmas Crafting Session in front of the Christmas Tree complete with a little snow blowing in the background...

It was quite picturesque.  Too bad there was no accumulation.

We started out with these pre-assembled houses from our local Publix...

They were fabulous!  The hardest part of making gingerbread houses from a kit is getting the walls and the roof to stand up and all stick...but these were done for us.  The icing even came premixed in squeezable plastic pouches.  [If you go to buy one, make sure your house is not broken.  One of ours was, but after a quick trip back to Publix all was well.]

The crew got busy creating their masterpieces...

They iced on Santa and some trees...

...and then tons of candy like gumdrops and candy canes...

After the houses were deemed complete, they moved onto gingerbread men and bead necklace/bracelets.

Owen and Baby Leo had visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads during most of the crafting.  But when Owen arouse, he was ready to ice...

Debbie helped him make a "Pig Pen" bead bracelet instead...

He was very serious watching her string on the beads.

The little gingerbread houses and their big gingerbread men make a festive centerpiece to our dining table...

The gingerbread man our the left is missing.  I think somehow Owie got to it and fed it to his furry friend!
