Snow Days
This is what our street looked like as we were loading up for school on Thursday...
This two were dressed and ready but secretly hoping for an early release...
All the snow stopped soon after we all arrived at school, so just knew we would be in session for the day. Then all of a sudden the snow started to fall again and they announce an 11:30 release!!! The best news ever...we got to go home early and didn't have to make up the day! By the time we all arrived home, this is what our street looked like...
Later that afternoon, we found out that school was cancelled for Friday...
...Owen said "What? No School Tomorrow?" because by that point all the snow had pretty much stopped!
We hunkered down for the game with...
...big bowls of chicken veggie soup and piles of cornbread.
Friday morning, Banks and Mary Reese were dying to...
...play outside in what little snow we had left! After I made them come in and warm up, we were looking for a little project. I remembered something Banks got for Christmas from Santa. Do you remember doing these?
...Shrinky Dinks? First you color them {they took this part serious}...
Then you put them on a baking sheet and pop them in the oven...
...and in about 3 minutes they come out looking like this...
They had the best time watching them shrink! Our Shrinky Dinks were actually ornaments which came with this little tree for display...
Won't this be fun for the holidays?
It is another fridged day around these parts. If you look closley out the window, you can see some tiny flakes of snow falling. I think I am offically ready for Spring!

Brief Recap of 2009...
January - rung in the new year with cousin Carter, shopped with Aunt Stacey for wedding & bridesmaid dresses
February - celebrated Valentine's Day, cranked out a science fair poster & made snow angels
March - welcomed the arrival of Owen Patrick Murphree, placed in the county science fair & spent Spring Break at home doing lots of arts & crafts
April - started T-Ball, celebrated Easter & Banks had Field Day
May - Owen went on his first road trip to Natchez, finally got our garden planted, Mary Reese performed as a rosebud in her dance recital, my Alpha Chi pledge class had a slumber party in the sorority house, Banks graduated from Kindergarten & we watched the hot air ballons on Memorial Day
June - spent a week at the beach, picked blueberries & got Aunt Stacey hitched
July - spent the 4th at the lake, spent some time at Point Mallard, Owen learned to roll over, Banks lost his 1st tooth, enjoyed dip cones & free movies at the Monaco
August - everyone started back to school, spent some last weekends of summer fishing at the lake, welcomed a new cousin (Callen) & squeezed in one last trip to Point Mallard
September - welcomed fall weather, attend football games and tailgating parties & Owen turned 6 months old
October - Fall Festivals at both schools, spent Fall Break @ Ross Bridge & Boo at the Zoo, Owen was baptized & trick-or-treated with friends
November - celebrated Mary Reese's 5th Birthday, Owen learned to crawl and pull up & enjoyed Thanksgiving with family
December - adopted our elf (Dasher Minty), decorated gingerbread house, went on a field trip to Santa's Village, had breakfast with Santa & had a hectic holiday season

Happy 2010
We rung in the New Years with these three...
{Not really...they were all in bed and fast asleep before 9:00. Jody and I barely made it past midnight ourselves!}
Banks and Mary Reese had a special drink to commemorate the holiday...
...they thought it was fabulous! Our little family of 5 all enjoyed a quiet dinner...
...of Boef Bourguignonne, salad and bread {Thanks Debbie}. Then we inhaled these...
...Molton Lava Cakes with ice cream! Even Owie got a bite of cake...
...that he thought it was delicious & delightful!
On New Year's Day, we had the families over for 1 last meal {I feel like that is all I have done for 2 weeks...EAT}!
We had a traditional New Year's late lunch...
...smoked Boston Butt, Turnip Greens {for wealth}, Black Eyed Peas {for luck and prosperity}, Turnips, Stuffed Potatoes and Cornbread.
Debbie always "hides" dimes in the peas to add an extra boost of luck! These 2 found a dimes...
...Popsy and Uncle Topher!
We spent the rest of the day lounging and playing things like...
...bob sled on the Wii {Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics Games...very fun}!

and attempting to work this puzzle we started on Christmas Day! {We haven't made much progress from this picture take on NYE}
I also claimed after the kitchen was cleaned up on New Years Day that I was done cooking for a while! I did however muster up the energy to make a huge pot of...
Chicken-Tasso-Andouille Sausage Gumbo. It took a lot more stirring than I really wanted to do today...but it is made and will be fabulous on the subzero nights!
Our family hopes everyone has a safe and prosperous 2010! We can't wait to see what is in store for us in the new year!

B∙I∙N∙G∙O
We usually play...
...B∙I∙N∙G∙O on Christmas morning. New Years Eve was the first day this group...
...was able to come together, so the annual Christmas Morning BINGO game got moved NYE lunch! {My brother's family stayed in Indy and my sister/her husband were in Natchez for the holidays.}
Instead of buying gifts for each other, we buy prizes from the table...
The prizes are a wide variety...gift cards, tools & gadgets, toys and food {and several "re-gifted" items that keep appearing year after year}. The ladder was the first prize to go!
This was part of the scene during the game...
Pure controlled choas! Banks was the caller {but not before he checked his own card}. Everyone was snacking and kids were crawling everywhere in the midst of the intense game.

My dad got smart...he copied the BINGO cards and everyone just marked their numbers off with a pen. One too many years of the markers flying everytime someone made a sudden move!
Mary Reese was the first in our family to BINGO. She was headed for the Target Gift Card but it was claimed already, so she settled for...
...a case of Moon Pies {all she needs now is a case of RC}! Banks had his eye on a certain prize the minute he walked in the door...
...this night light came with a copy of The Christmas Story movie and a real Red Ryder BB Gun! I kept telling him that he would shoot his eye out but he wouldn't listen! He was estatic when Jody bingoed and claimed it for him.
A head messager
...and a Whoopi Cushion. It has provided hours of entertainment!
This was also the first time we got all the grandkids together for a picture...
